The Law Offices of Carson J. Tucker has filed an appeal in the case of Hagerman ex rel Hagerman v. Macomb County, Sixth Circuit Case No. 17-1843, defending several individual Sheriff’s Deputies in Macomb County arising out of a civil rights case filed by the estate of a pre-trial detainee who was murdered by another pre-trial detainee in the Macomb County jail, while housed in the jail’s mental health unit. Most recently, Mr. Tucker filed a writ of certiorari in the United States Supreme Court in a 42 USC 1983 case against a county law enforcement agency, garnering amicus curiae support from the National Sheriffs Association, Macomb County, Michigan, Oakland County, Michigan, and the Michigan Municipal League. After the United States Supreme Court requested a response from the opposing side, the case settled. See Richko v. Wayne County, et al., Supreme Court Case No. 16-538.

Mr. Tucker has developed a particular expertise in prosecuting and defending appeals in the United States Supreme Court and has had several significant successes in the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Michigan Supreme Court and the Michigan Court of Appeals. In addition to his work on appeals, Mr. Tucker has written brief amicus curiae in the United States Supreme Court and Michigan Supreme Court for various governmental and non-governmental entities. In addition to being licensed to practice in Michigan, Mr. Tucker is admitted to practice in the Eastern and Western District Federal Courts in Michigan, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
